Having problems with your Refrigerators ?

I have a fridgidaire model frs6r5esb side by side refridgerator. the freezer stopped keeping my ice cream frozen and eventually quit making ice. i checked the temp in the freezer and it was way too warm (barely freezing) i pulled off the back panel of the inside of the freezer and found that the silver coil was frozen solid in a block of ice. i defrosted as much of it as i could and got about 60% of the ice off and started everything back up and it worked great for about 3 days then i saw it

Ok well believe it or not your problem has to do with a little heater... that keeps things free of ice like that, also check any drainage channels aren't blocked up where the excess drains away. it;s either not working, or the thermostat that controls it isn't. This is what usually happens and seems to fit with what you say, there should be no blocks of ice around tubes ...\015\012

We thawed that with a hair dryer a couple days ago, but the ice crystals are starting to form. We have a 40 watt bulb in the fridge, looks like its an appliance bulb. We have a side by side GE. The freezer freezes solid and then the cool air can not travel up the back side to the frig and the frig get really warm. Can we shut off the freezer and still have the frig work? We have had the computer panel on the back, the ice maker arm motor and the defroster coil all replaced. I will not put any more money into it. Could it be that the flap on the front of the door to dispense ice doesn't seal completely?

The freezer seems to go into defrost mode and stays in it. The ice maker does not freeze the cubes as well. Unpluged the unit and cleaned coils and such. Plugged back in and it worked for a day then went into defrost mode and stayed there. The quick ice button does not work as well as it does not turn on the fan in the freezer side. I removed it and found ice clumps on the coils. I disconnected the water line below the door and there was no water flow to that point. Is the water supply line frozen by the great clumps of ice? How do I insure the great clumps of ice do not return? Thanks,Marty
