Having problems with your Refrigerators ?

Jenn Air - JCD2389GES Side by Side - Freezer cold, refrigerator not cooling. No real frost buildup in Freezer - took back panel off and no frost on coil... Compressor is very warm. Fan is blowing on coil - that appears to be the only noise coming from inside when I turn the freeze/refrigerator on.

Answers :

Sounds like a bad overload/relay . On the compressor , with the refrig unpluged , pry off the box on the side of the compressor with 2 or 3 wires going to it . If you have a meter that beeps on the continuity setting , touch the 3 compressor pins 2 at a time . If no beep , compressor is bad . If a beep from either of the 3 pins to the copper lines connected to the compressor , then the compressor is shorted . If all 3 pins beep , replace the overload/relay pt # 12002784 .
\015\012NOTE : if you do not have access to a meter , shake the relay ( black piece ) and listen for rattle noise . If rattles , its bad .

I have a side by side fridge that quit cooling (freezer and fridge) yesterday. the compressor is hot on the top and sounds like it is running. i turned it off for 24 hours to see if it was possibly frozen. i did not have any water and still will not cool (it does have self defrost). condensing coils are clean and fan is blowing. when i turn the temp to off for the fridge side and then turn it back on i initially get a clicking noise that comes from where the interior fan is housed, but the noise

5 1/2 yr old side by side (GSH25JFRBB). Water dispenser began not working properly 2 days ago. Would not consistently release water. Ice dispenser appeared fine. This morning I heard a ticking clock noise and when I looked inside the freezer section, where the sound was coming from, you can see a fan attempting to turn, unsuccessfully (underneath the white protective cover at the top, back of freezer inside). I have an Amana side by side refridgerator. The fridge side is not cooling, the freezer side is still a little cold but not cold enough. I see frost in the back of the freezer at the vents, but no air flowing. It seems that the fan is not blowing air at all. The compressor seems to be fine, the evaporator fan is running in the back and the thermostat switches seem to be working (when I turn it off, it turns off the evaporator fan in the back). Any ideas?

I have a side by side Whirlpool refrigerator. The Freezer coils freeze up and the fridge side gets warm. There is no cold air blowing out of the vent in the back of the fridge. I thawed the coils out with a blow dryer and turned the fridge back on. There was a little cool air coming out of the back vent but then stopped again after 1/2 hour. I was reading that possibly the PC board went bad or the defrost thermostat is bad. How can I tell which one so I do not have to spend all that money trying

If you thaw the unit out it should operate correctly for at least 24 hours or so prior to refreezing again. so if it stops working prior to that then i would say you have a sealed system issue. \012if the unit is freezing up again withing 24 ho ... Hi. You answered a question about a "sizzle" noise coming from the freezer of a GE Profile side-by-side. Your answer was "The sizzling in your case means that it is working....it is just water dripping from the cooling coil onto the hot element that defrosts it..." I just want to ask an additional question. We have turned off the water to the 'fridge, because it started leaking water onto the floor. And the ice maker quit about a year ago.
